KABUL (Pajhwok): The spy service on Wednesday announced developing for the first a national security strategy aimed at combating security threats and defining the limits of use of force.
Speaking at a press conference in Kabul, National Directorate of Security or NDS’s capacity to enter a face-to-face fight with Afghan security forces had been reduced to six provinces from the previous 22 provinces.
However, he said there had been a 68 percent spike in Taliban’s attacks on major cities and the spy service had detained many insurgent leaders and criminal gangs in 150 operations during the past two months.
NDS spokesman said threats from insurgents and the limits of use of force would be prioritised in the proposed national security strategy.
During the last 10 days, Kabul witnessed three suicide attacks that left many dead and wounded.
