ASADADBAD (Pajhwok): A Taliban-designated chief for the Manogi district of eastern Kunar province was among five others killed in a US drone strike on early Saturday, the provincial police chief said.
Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel identified the slain commander to Pajhwok Afghan News as Maulvi Nasrullah, who was killed along with four companions in Korringal area at around 4am.
He said the drone attack did not cause casualties to civilians. Eyewitnesses could not be reached for comments because the area lacked communication services.
A Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the killing of Maulvi Nasrullah along with his nephew, also a militant commander, in the attack.
