KABUL were receiving support from outside, asking the United Nations to address the problem.

Recent attacks in Kabul, Sydney and Peshawar underlined the fact that terrorists knew no borders and did not differentiate between countries, the Indian ambassador to the UN said.

Participating in a Security Council debate on Afghanistan, Bhagwant S. Bishnoi said the terrorists posed a common threat to humanity. He urged UN Special Representative Nicholas Haysom to focus on the problem.

Pakistan called for combating terrorism with full force, as its Deputy Permanent Representative Sahibzada Ahmed Khan called the scourge a common enemy.

Most countries did not specify the terror groups, but Moscow and Tehran named names, said Russian Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, who noted an uptick in militant attacks.
