KABUL (Pajhwok): An opinion poll released on Tuesday said more than 32 percent of Afghans were not satisfied with President Ashraf Ghani’s performance during his 100 days in office.

In the poll, a joint venture of ATR consulting, a team of Afghan and international professionals, and Tolonews, some 2448 people were interviewed in all the 34 provinces. It showed only 27.5 percent of those interviewed approved the president’s performance.

The survey shows Ghani’s popularity graph has sharply declined from 59.9 percent during his first month in office to 27.5 percent after marking 100 days in office.

About 30 percent respondents showed moderate satisfaction with Ghani’s performance and one in 10 respondents said they had no opinion.

The survey, the second on Ghani’s performance, was conducted between December 27, 2014 and January 3, 2015. The first survey took place after the president completed one month in office.

Earlier, in a report released by SadRoz.af mentioned the delayed cabinet as the main reason behind Ghani’s lukewarm performance in the first 100 days.

The report said the unity government had so far met four campaign promises and made some progress on 23 other pledges. At least 83 more promises remain untouched.

President Ghani signed security agreements with the United States and NATO starting this month.

He ordered reopening an investigation into the $900-million collapse of Kabul Bank and made “rapid progress in the first 40 days,” according to the report.

But Ghani’s government could not form a cabinet amid worsening violence nationwide. Kabul witnessed more than two dozen attacks since his Sept. 29 inauguration alone.

Many Afghans had expectations for the unity government that came into being after a bitter, 10-month election campaign, nearly derailed by accusations of widespread fraud.

Officials close to Ghani said the president was aware of the setbacks and his inability so far to communicate his reform agenda.

They said the president Ghani would soon roll out a plan to show a “marked change” in Afghans’ daily lives within months.

CEO Abdullah on Tuesday assuaged the nation’s concerns over the delayed cabinet, saying the council of minister will be composed of honest and sincere persons.
