MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Kidnapped by gunmen some two weeks back, a foreigner woman working with Save the Children, an NGO, has been freed in northern Faryab province, an official said Monday.
Zubaida, another employee of the organization told Pajhwok Afghan News that Sara 38 had been working with the NGO as educational coordinator who traveled to Maimana, the provincial capital, to monitor her projects some two weeks ago.
However, unidentified gunmen abducted her in the night. Zubiada said that Sara was the citizen of Uganda. She had now been released and in good health who would join her family soon.
Meanwhile, Col. Muhammad Naeem Andrabi, a senior police official, recalled the woman was kidnapped by a group of gunmen who demanded ransom for her release. However, Andrabi did not share more details whether ransom was paid to ensure her release.
