QALA-E-NAW (Pajhwok): Latest wave of flash floods left main Herat Highway and ready crops damaged in the Maqur district in northwestern Badghis province, a senior official at the governor’s office said on Monday.
Sharf-ud-Din Majidi told Pajhwok Afghan News that flood caused damages in other districts of the province. However, he said he did not have exact details into damages caused by natural disaster.
The latest wave of floods last Sunday damaged three bridges on main Herat Highway which left the road closed for traffic.
Eng. Maliha, director public works department, said efforts were on to reopen the road. Majidi said one person died and several houses damaged in the floods.
