JALALABAD (Pajwhok): The mystery behind the murder of eight members of a family in Behsud district of eastern Nangarhar province has been solved.
The family of eight had been found mysteriously dead in their house in Mirzad Qala area of the district last Monday after three men visited the family on Sunday night as their guests.
The dead included Yousaf, his mother, wife and five children as young as two months and five years old.
Security personnel had arrested nine people, including a nephew of Yousaf, Imran Khan, who had confessed to killing the family with the help of his friend, a security source said.
He said Imran Khan told his interrogators that he and his friend went to his uncle’s home and killed all of his family members.
Both Imran Khan and his friend have been referred to the prosecutor’s office and they were likely to face an open trial, he said.
An investigation team on Sunday presented its findings to a security meeting chaired by Governor Saleem Khan Kunduzi.
Nangarhar police chief Brig. Gen. Fazl Ahmad Sherzad updated participants of the meeting on the Behsud case, saying the issue might be resulted from inheritance dispute.
“ Yousuf’s aunt has told the police that Imran Khan, a step nephew of the victim, had several times attacked Yousuf’s house. So we arrested the suspect,” he said.
