KABUL shadow chief for the Arghistan district of northeastern Badakhshan province has been killed by a landmine explosion he was planting in southern Ghazni province.
Deputy police chief for Ghazni, Col. Sakhi Haidar, told Pajhwok Afghan News Maulvi Najibullah was planting the roadside bomb to target a convoy of security forces.
Earlier, security forces eliminated Maulvi Sami Inqelabi, the Taliban’s deputy chief for Registan district during a clash.
Separately, Taliban leader Qari Zubair was killed in raid in Raghistan district, a statement from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said. Three more Taliban were wounded in the attack.
In Ghazni, security forces seized a remote-controlled bomb in the second police districts of the provincial capital. Another landmine, which was planted in the Rustae Kashkak district, was defused with the help of people.
