KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Commission (NPC) has approved four contracts worth 1.6 billion afghanis, a statement said on Sunday.
The Presidential Palace statement said the NPC meeting, chaired by President Ashraf Ghani, approved the four contracts including one on restoring and redesigning a micro hydro power dam in Chak area of central Maidan Wardak province.
Other contracts were about the provision of various types of vehicles for the northern Baghlan coal enterprise, ration material for the Ariana Afghan Airlines and fuel for central and field Afghan National Army units.
At the meeting, the president strictly directed the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) to constantly monitor the work of the company restoring the Wardak micro hydropower dam.
The statement said the NPC assessed a Ministry of Public Health (MPH) report regarding the implementation of construction projects of government hospitals in Kabul and provinces.
A delegation comprised of MPH, Ministry of Finance and NPC members headed by economy minister was assigned with investigating the topic thoroughly and reporting back to the NPC.
President Ghani said besides stressing attention paid to the provision of health services also ordered solution to problems regarding half done projects.
