Kunduzi commends Pajhwok’s role in coverage of events

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The governor of eastern Nangarhar province, during a meeting,appreciated Pajhwok Afghan News’services and its coverage of important local events.

The meeting, arranged by Nangarhar-based culturists on Saturday night, was attended by Governor Salim Khan Kunduzi, provincial council members and a number of local officials.

On the occasion, participants praised President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani for conferring the Wazir Akbar Khan award on Pajhwok reporterFahim Zeerak.

Last month, the president gave away awards to seven Afghan journalists at a ceremony marking World Press Freedom Day.Fahim was among the recipients of the Wazir Akbar Khan award.

Governor Salim Khan Kunduzi thanked Pajhwok and the president for decorating the reporter from Nangarhar.“Pajhwok is a credible news agency with significant coverage of events and happenings.

“We congratulate the news organisation on winning the top governmental award,” he said, promising support to journalists. He vowed to cooperate with media on access to information.

A provincial council member, Israrullah Murad, said: “This award goes to all reporters in the eastern region. We are proud of Fahim winning itand congratulate Pajhwok.”

At the end of the meeting, Fahim said: “I thank my office Pajhwok Afghan News for selecting me for the award, and then the Presidential Palace for honouringme with the pride.”He said Pajhwok would always try to cover all local events with neutrality.
