KABUL (Pajhwok): The first day of Eidul Fitr was observed across the country on Sunday with Eid prayers offered at mosques and eidgahs in all provinces and the central capital amid tight security measures.

The Eid prayers were offered in Kabul and throughout the country in a peaceful environment and children wearing new dresses visited their relatives and exchanged gifts.

President Ashraf Ghani offered the prayers along with Cabinet minister and other high ranking government officials at the mosque at the Presidential Palace.

Religious scholars and prayer leaders prayed for peace and stability in the country. Muslims in Gulf States, Europe nd the US also celebrated Eid today.

Imams at various Mosques shed a light over the importance of Eid as a religious festival and prayed for lasting peace and stability in the country.

Haji Naqibullah Nizami, a faithful who offered Eid prayer at Pul-i-Khishti Mosque, wished that every day shall be peaceful and warm like the first day of the Eid.

He called on Afghans to refrain from killing one another reconcile forever.

Qari Najibullah, the resident of Nangarhar province offered Eid prayer at the Eidgha Mosque, and said people in Nangarhar have been worried after recent terrorist attacks. He, however, thanked today is peaceful and no violent incident had occurred.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has taken strict measure for security throughout the country and no terror or violent incident had been reported as yet.
