LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Fifteen Taliban militants were killed and nine others wounded in an airstrike by foreign forces in Nad Ali district of southern Kandahar province on Sunday, police said.
Helmand police spokesman Abdul Salam Afghan told Pajhwok Afghan News the airstrike was carried out in Gropshash area of the district this noon. The blitz also destroyed three vehicles and some weapons belonging to the rebels.
Afghan said the slain insurgents wanted to stage attacks in Lashkragah, the provincial capital, and Nad Ali district but secret information led to bombing them.
A resident of the area said the airstrike took place this noon in Zabar village, but he had no information about casualties.
There was no word from the Taliban about the NATO airstrike.
