TARINKOT (Pajhwok): Six civilians have been killed and 14 others injured in security forces night raid in central Uruzgan province, residents and hospital sources said on Friday.
Afghan Special Forces have conducted a raid Thursday night in the Sajawal locality of Tarinkot, the provincial capital.
Earlier in the day Zainullah, police commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News 18 Taliban, including notorious commanders, were killed in the overnight raid.
But hospital sources and residents of locality claimed civilians also suffered casualties in the last night raid.
Adam Khan, the resident of locality, who was with one of the injured civilian at the hospital, said he was family member of innocent civilian injured in the overnight raid of security forces.
He said during the operation security forces opened fire on them as a result six civilian were killed and 14 injured.
He said among the dead and injured were women and children.
Tarinkot Civil Hospital Head Dr. Ziaurahman said among the injured civilians were four women three children and some men. He said critical injured had been shifted to Kandahar.
Provincial government, security and local officials could not be reached for comments despite several attempts.
