46th Kabul-Delhi flight carries 20.5mt Afghan fruits

The flight took off from the Hamid Karzai International Airport at 10:30am for the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, according to a statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul.

The 47th flight from Kabul to New Delhi was scheduled for Friday (Nov 24) to be carrying 19 metric tons of fresh and dry fruits, it added.

The process of transferring goods to India via the air corridor program continues on a regular basis.

“The credit for the program’s success goes to the strong coordination and cooperation among government entities and the private sector. We therefore entered the very optimal stage, where we have almost solved most of the challenges to the program.”

The Presidential Palace said flight operations conducted recently had been smooth and standard.

Meanwhile, Afghan traders exported 3.3 metric tons of fresh fruits from the International Airport in southern Kandahar province to Dubai on two flights last week on November 8 (2MTs) and November 19 (1.3MTs). 

In near future, the Afghan government plans to start exporting more goods through the air corridor to other regional and neighboring countries, particularly the UAE, the statement said.
