MEHTHARLAM (Pajhwok): Four Taliban insurgents, including a notorious commander, have been killed during an air-and-ground operation in Alingar district of eastern Nangarhar province.
The joint forces raided a Taliban hideout in Sangar Dara area on Tuesday night, said Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman.
He identified the slain rebel commander as Mubarez and another Taliban commander Janan was wounded along with several others during the night raid.
The slain individuals were allegedly involved in terrorist attacks, planting roadside bombs and other destructive activities in Alingar district and different areas of the province.
Zwak said the last night operation was launched after gathering complete information about no presence of civilians in the area.
The rebels’ bodies were still lying at the site of the offensive. The Taliban have not yet commented on the raid.
