FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): The police chief for Pusthrod district of western Farah province escaped unhurt from a roadside bombing, but a civilian was killed and two others wounded during a clash erupted immediately after blast, an official said Thursday.

Naser Mahri, governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the vehicle of 1st Lt. Mohammad Ibrahim, the police chief of Pushtrod district was targeted with a roadside bombing in Gajgin area of the district this morning.

He said that the police chief and security forces suffered no casualties in the incident.

“After the explosion, Afghan forces and the Taliban engaged in a clash, one civilian was killed and two others wounded in Taliban firing,” he said.

The injured were shifted to Pushtrod clinic and their health condition is said to be stable, Mahri said.
A resident of the area who wished to go unnamed, said that the slain civilian was his relative who was going from Khak-I-Safid district to the capital of Farah province.
