<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> or lower house of the parliament on Wednesday decided to review the government created medical council and medical law as a new organizational unit.</p>
<p>Public <a href="/en/health" class="glossify-link">health</a> minister and head of Medical Council presented their information about the issue to the lower house today.</p>
<p>Public Health Ninister Dr. Firozuddin Firoz, who attended today’s Wolesi Jirga meeting, said 120 countries had medical councils and <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a> also needed it.</p>
<p>“This council can be helpful in accreditation of health system of the country because most of the people are complaining about the nature of health services being provided to them,” he said.</p>
<p>Firoz requested lawmakers to approve the medical law for improving doctors’ <a href="/en/education" class="glossify-link">education</a> level, addressing doctors’ problems, investigation of violations, protection of doctors and patients and providing better health services.</p>
<p>The Medical Council was created in early October following a presidential order. Based on Article 90<sup>th</sup> of the Constitution, the Wolesi Jirga has the right to create, amend or cancel organizational units.</p>
<p>Dr. Nasrin Oryakhel, who was appointed as head of the Medical Council by the president, told today’s session of the lower house that the medical law and creation of Medical Council should be approved considering requirements of the country.</p>
<p>At the end, Speaker Abdur Raouf Ibrahimi ordered health and counternarcotics commission of the house to distribute copies of the draft medical law to lawmakers so they review it in the next session.</p>
