Police among 4 killed in Kandahar suicide bombing

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Four people have been killed and 12 others wounded in a suicide attack in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Saturday.

Police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the explosion took place late on Friday when a suicide bomber struck a police pick-up in Aino Mena neighbourhood.

He said one policeman was killed and three others were wounded. The police spokesman had no information civilian casualties.

But an official at the Mirwais Civil Hospital said they had received a body and 12 injured people, including four policemen.

According to a credible source, two civilians and two police were killed and 12 others wounded in the suicide attack.

As usual, Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast. Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, the group’s spokesman, claimed 18 police personnel were killed and three of their vehicles damaged.
