Taliban kidnap 30 passengers on Uruzgan-Kandahar highway

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Taliban militants have closed the Uruzgan-Kandahar highway and abducted 30 passengers, an official said on Wednesday.

Dost Mohammad Nayab, the Uruzgan governor spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident occurred in the Urdo-Balagh locality on the highway late on Tuesday.

He accused the insurgents of kidnapping 30 passengers from a vehicle they intercepted. The captives are yet to be identified but investigations are under way into the incident.

Taliban have not yet commented on the issue.
