JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two people were killed, including a militant, and nine civilians wounded as a result of two back-to-back blasts in eastern Nangarhar province on Monday, an official said.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the first explosion took place in Chaparhar district, where an explosive device went off at a fair at 10am.
He said nine people were wounded, two of them seriously. They were evacuated to the Jalalabad Zonal Hospital.
Niaz Mohammad, a resident of the locality, said the explosion occurred in the district’s main bazaar, where a weekly fair is arranged every Monday.
Also in the morning, one insurgent and a civilian were killed in the Nakarkhel area of Khogyani district.
According to Khogyani, the explosion happened after a mine exploded in front of a shop. He did not say who had planted the bomb.
