JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A tribal elder and Wolesi Jirga candidate was among at least four people killed in a car suicide bomb attack in eastern Nangarhar province on Monday afternoon, an official said.
The elder, Haji Hayatullah Khan, was travelling on the Jalalabad-Torkham highway when his vehicle came under attack in Kabul camp area shortly after 6pm, the governor’s spokesman said.
Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News that initial information showed Hayatullah Khan and three other people had been killed in the car suicide bombing.
Khan was contesting the Oct 20 parliamentary election.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
