Khapalwak steps down as HPC secretary

KABUL (HPC) and presidential advisor in political affairs, Mohammad Akram Khapalwak resigned from his position on Wednesday.

Khapalwak formally presented his resignation letter to President Ashraf Ghani in cabinet meeting. In his resignation letter, Khpalwak wrote: “My resignation will not limit my commitment and support for peace and all other national programs.”

Khapalwak added the president approved his resignation and thanked him for reposing trust in him.

However, there were rumors in social media that Khapalwak resigned from his position as a result of his differences with Ghani. As the presidential election approaching, several high-ranking officials have stepped down from their slots so far.

Recently, Zia Ul Haq Amarkhel and Dr. Fazli have been appointed as political advisors to the president.
