7 Kharotis wounded in tribal clash near Durand Line

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): A clash between Afghan and Pakistan tribes have left seven people wounded in South Waziristan tribal district.

Members of the Sulimankhel and Kharoti tribes clashed in Zarmailan area of Toykhula sub-district near the Durand Line on Tuesday.

Kharoti tribesmen took up positions at a hilltop and opened fire at the population on the Pakistan side, The News quoted an unnamed official as saying.

Sulimankhel volunteers responded and forced the Kharotis to flee and leave behind weapons and ammunition.

The Sulimankhel lashkar was led by Malik Ibrahim Jalalkhel, Gulbahar Khan Sulimankhel and other local elders.

The district administration verified the incident, saying a team had been sent to the remote area to take stock of the situation. Seven members of the Kharoti tribe were injured.
