LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Afghan army commandos broke a Taliban prison and freed 33 captive soldiers during a raid in the Kajaki district of southern Helmand province, an official said on Friday.
The last night raid was conducted in Abdar Karez area of the district, said Afghan National Army’s 215 Maiwand Military Corps spokesman Maj. Abdul Qadir Bahadari.
He said 33 prisoners were freed from the Taliban’s jail where some detainees had been held for the past four years. He said the Taliban militants had exited the area during the operation.
