SHARANA (Pajhwok): The people of Afghanistan must widely participate in the peace process and in the next month’s presidential election as the country’s national security forces are fully prepared to keep people’s security, the governor of southeastern Paktika province said on Sunday.
Before offering Eidul Adha prayers here, Governor Dr. Mujib Rahman Chamkani addressed thousands of people. He praised cooperation of the people of Paktika with the government and called them government supporters.
“Peace is the desire of the government and the people. The Taliban should avail the available opportunity for peace and should intensify their efforts for peace in the country,” the governor said.
Chamkani said if the peace process failed to deliver result, he would authorize the people of Paktika to bring peace on their own and it would be a start from Paktika.
The governor said the presidential election, which was a national project, was approaching and the people of Paktika should widely participate in the ballot.
