PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Taliban’s shadow district chief for Azra district of central Logar province has been killed along with five companions in a foreign forces airstrike, an official said Sunday.
A spokesman for the Afghan National Army’s 203rd Thunder Military Corps told Pajhwok Afghan News the air raid was conducted in Babos Sarsang area of Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, late Saturday night.
Ahmad Shakil Tasal said Maulvi Mohammadullah known as Farooqi, the Taliban’s shadow district for Azra district, were along five others killed in the nighttime airstrike.
He said Mohammadullah was leading a 45-member Taliban group in the district.
According to Shakil, a Saracha model vehicle, three Kalashnikovs, machineguns and a number of other weapons and ammunition belonging to the militants were also destroyed in the airstrike.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Shah, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok that the air bombardment took place in their village late on Saturday night.
He said the airstrikes inflicted causalities to Taliban militants but he had no information in this regard.
