KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential Spokesman Sediq Sediqi on Thursday said the authority to decide the fate of Durand Line lies with the people of Afghanistan, not the state.
Referring to Wednesday’s inauguration ceremony at Torkham port, Sediqi categorically said Afghanistan did not recognize whatever was written on the event’s board.
About the peace process, he said: “We want all countries to recognize and support an Afghan led and owned process.” He said the Taliban lost the address of peace which was Afghanistan and refused to end violence and talk with the government.
He said Taliban’s visits to neighboring countries were nothing but a waste of time and asked the rebels to talk with the people of Afghanistan. The presidential spokesman said that the presence of international security forces was based on the desire and wish of the people of Afghanistan.
He said: “We want the people and former President Karzai to support election which is a national process.”
About telephonic conversation between Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Ghani, the spokesman said peace and election process were discussed between the two leaders. Seddiqi said the Afghan government wanted to convert Afghanistan into a hub for transit trade and connectivity and hoped Pakistan would realize this opportunity.
