KABUL) said on Thursday that 2,695,890 people cast their votes at 4,684 polling stations during September 28 presidential elections.
“These are not final figures, the numbers may decline because in some polling stations non-biometric votes have been cast and these will be separated from the biometric votes,” said IEC Commissioner Mulana Abdullah.
He said according to latest information, 4,684 polling stations or 26,568 polling booths were open for people on the Election Day while 698 polling stations comprising 3,018 polling booths remained closed on the Election Day.
Abdullah said most of polling stations remained closed in Balkh province.
IEC Head Hawa Alam Nuristani said that the commission was committed to maintaining neutrality and would never accept any pressure. Electoral team getting most of the votes would be announced the winner, she said.
