<p>FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Nine people have been killed and six others injured in an airstrike that hit several homes in Warduj district of northeastern Badakhshan province, a public representative said Monday.</p>
<p>Ahmad Bashir Fahim, a member of the Provincial Council, told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghan that fighter jets bombarded Bashunda locality on Sunday morning, killing and wounding at least 15 people including <a href="/en/women" class="glossify-link">women</a> and children.</p>
<p>He said three homes were destroyed in the airstrikes. The public representative provided no more details about the latest civilian casualties.</p>
<p>Habibullah, a resident of Warduj district, said Afghan jets bombarded the area on Sunday at around 10am, damaging a number of homes, including his.</p>
<p>Mohammad Idrees, who was injured in the incident, told Pajhwok Afghan News from his hospital bed that he was working in fields when the airstrikes occured.</p>
<p>He suffered wounds on the head. “I heard a loud sound and then fell unconscious and when I came to senses, I was in hospital surrounded by doctors.”</p>
<p>District Chief Mohammad Umar Paiman, through a telephonic conversation, said that he did not have enough information regarding the airstrikes and did not want to comment on this.</p>
<p>Pajhwok tried to reach out to provincial and security officials, but failed.</p>
<p>The <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a>, however, claimed that civilians suffered life and material losses during the airstrikes in Warduj district.</p>
