JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The mastermind behind the bomb attack on a mosque in the Haska Mena district of eastern Nangarhar province has been killed in a drone strike, the spy service said on Friday.
The bombing that ripped through the mosque in Jodar area killed and wounded about 100 people during Friday’s prayers last Friday.
The National Directorate of Security office in Nangarhar in a statement said the planner of the mosque bombing was killed in a foreign forces drone strike on Thursday in Gawdara area of Achin district.
The statement identified the mastermind as Qari Shakar, a resident of Pakistan’s Orakzai district. Qari Shakar was killed along with two others.
Qari Shakar, aka Qudrat Bacha, was a key member of planning for Daesh and had been behind the Haska Mena mosque attack.
Documents recovered from the slain Daesh member showed he and other Daesh members were Pakistani nationals.
Daesh or Islamic State group has so far said nothing about the mosque bombing, but the NDS statement clearly blames the group for the deadly assault.
