Gas price soared by 30pc, flour, ghee, gold rates down in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The price of liquefied gas has increased by 30 percent while that of flour, ghee and gold has dipped during the outgoing week in capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Mohammad Akram, a liquefied gas seller in Taimani area of Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of a kilogram of the commodity increased from 50 Afghanis to 65 Afghanis this week.

The prices of fuel remain stable.

Abdul Hadi, a worker at Wazirabad Fuel Station in Kabul said that the price of a liter of petrol was 51afs and the same quantity of diesel 48afs, same rates of last week’s.

In food items, the prices of flour and ghee slightly decreased.

Mohammad Samim, a wholesaler in Kabul’s Mandavi Market said that the price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour was declined from 1,650afs to 1,630afs and 16 liters of Khurshid ghee from 1,150afs to 1,130afs.

However, he said that the price of 49 kilograms Pakistani sugar cost 1,920afs, 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,200afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea 300afs and the same quantity of African black tea 320afs, the same rates of last week’s.

Ahmad Mustafa, who owns a grocery store in Taimani area of Kabul, sold a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,750afs, a 49-kg bag of sugar for 2,000afs, 24-kg of Pakistani rice 2,500afs a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,200afs, one-kg of Indonesian green tea for 320afs and the same amount of black African tea for 360afs—higher than wholesale rates.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Salehzada, a jeweler in Timor Shahee area of Kabul, told Pajhwok that the price of one gram of Arabian gold was decreased from 3,100afs to 3,050afs and the same quantity of Russian variety from 2,500afs to 2,450afs.

Haji Mir Hussian Sadaqat, a moneychanger at the Money Exchange Service in Sara-i-Shahzada, said one US dollar was accounted for 78.35afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 501afs against last week’s 78.15afs and 493afs.
