LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): At least 14 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed in a Taliban bomb attack in southern Helmand province on Saturday, an official said.
A security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the militants blew up a security check-post via a remotely-controlled bomb in the Charkhakan area of Sagin district this morning.
“The Taliban had dug a tunnel to the security post and blew it up,” the official said, adding 20 soldier were stationed the checkpoint. Fourteen of them were killed and two wounded while the rest went missing.
Meanwhile, the 215th Maiwand Military Corps said in a statement 10 soldiers were killed and four others wounded in the militant attack.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok only four ANA soldiers were killed and two others wounded in the insurgent assault.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi claimed 26 security forces were killed in the blast and 11 weapons captured by the fighters.
