2 tons of expired medicines torched in Nimroz

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Two tons of date expired medicines were set alight in

western Nimroz province on Thursday, an official said.

Nimroz Public Health Director Dr. Farid Ahmad Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News their investigative team had discovered and confiscated the expired drugs in December, 2019 and were destroyed today.

He said 432 different types of medicine worth 483,000 afghanis were torched and the process to confiscate more such drugs was underway.

Meanwhile, a number of residents complained about the availability of low quality and expired medicines in the province and urged the authorities concerned to investigate the issue seriously.

Mohammad Gul, a resident of Zaranj, the provincial capital, urged continued crackdown on further low quality and expired medicine in the province.

Shah, a woman in the provincial capital, also urged the Ministry of Public Heath to take legal action against those keeping expired drugs in their stores.
