<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> (Pajhwok): Former president Hamid Karzai on Tuesday addressed Tehran Dialogue Forum 2020, in Iran’s capital, urging the US to decrease tensions and return to the unclear deal with the Islamic republic.</p>
<p>A statement from the ex-president’s media office to Pajhwok Afghan News said Hamid Karzai took part in Tehran Dialogue Forum 2020.</p>
<p>The event was arranged by the Political and International Studies Center of Iran Foreign Ministry.</p>
<p>The statement said Hamid Karzai stressed regional countries’ cooperation in de-escalation of the tension.</p>
<p>Karzai commended and thanked major countries of the <a href="/en/world" class="glossify-link">world</a>’s neighbors, especially Iran, after the 11/9 incident.</p>
<p>Addressing the gathering, the former president urged the US to decrease tensions and return to its unclear deal with Iran.</p>
<p>He also hoped the European Union (EU), Russia and China would play a vital role reducing tension between the two countries.</p>
<p>The statement said Hamid Karzai also held a meeting with Iran foreign minister Jawad Zarif where Afghan envoy Abdul Ghafoor Liwal was also present.</p>
