FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Five businesspeople, travelling to a port in western Farah province, have been killed in an airstrike, officials said Sunday.
Local officials said the businessmen, residents of Farah City, were killed while travelling to the Abu Nasr Farahi port late on Saturday.
Abdul Jabbar who lost his cousin in the air raid, told Pajhwok Afghan News killing civilians, particularly youth, was a crime against humanity. He asked for immediate justice.
He said the five traders were running a cement business at the port. All of them were burnt to death as a result of the airstrike, he said.
Jabbar added they carried the dead bodies to the governor’s house for seeking justice. Local officials have not yet commented on the raid.
Dadullah Qane, a provincial council member, confirmed the killing of the businesspeople.He asked the central government for investigating the incident and bringing those responsible to justice.
Meanwhile, 207th Military Corps’officials said five militants suffered casualties during an airstrike in western Afghanistan.
They said two militants were killed and three others wounded in the KarizShikha village on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Saturday.
About three weeks back, one businessperson was killed and a second injured in an airstrike targeting a vehicle on its way from Farah City to the Abu Nasr Farahi port.
