Peace Ministry budget manipulated after approval: MPs

KABUL members on Wednesday claimed the State Ministry for Peace budget statement has been manipulated and surged to 850 million afghanis from the actual 600 million afghanis.

Mir Dad Najrabi, a member of the lower house Finance and Budgetary Commission, said 600 million afghanis were considered for the Ministry of Peace, but the amount was fraudulently surged to 850 milliion afghanis.

He said budget document of the ministry had been manipulated and it should be identified who did it.

Some other lawmakers also demanded investigation into the manipulation and termed it a crime and demanded individuals behind to be identified.

Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani said:  “Manipulation of 250 million afghanis in the budget of Peace Ministry is a crime especially after it was approved.” He tasked the budgetary commission of the house to investigate the issue.

But Finance Ministry’s Spokesperson said 850 million afghanis were considered in the budget for the State Ministry and no manipulation had happened.
