KABUL (Pajhwok): Five Islamic State militants have laid down their arms in eastern Kunar province, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Monday.
The Daesh fighters surrendered to Afghan forces in Sawakai district of the province on Saturday, according to a statement from the ministry,
The rebels also handed over their weapons to the local security forces and promised they would never return to the battlefield, the ministry added.
Earlier in the week, Afghanistan’s spy service claimed detaining the ISIS leader for Afghanistan and other top commanders of the group during a special operation.
