Pakistan reopens Spin Boldak, Torkham gates for trade

<p>KANDAHAR/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): <a href="/en/pakistan" class="glossify-link">Pakistan</a> for commercial goods and transit trade on Saturday.</p>

<p>Pakistan recently reopened the Chaman-Spin Boldak border crossing in Kandahar province and the Torkham gate for four days to allow thousands of stranded Afghans to return to their country after closing the crossings a month back due to coronavirus scare.</p>

<p>Islamabad had said the border crossings were reopened at a special request from <a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">Kabul</a> and about 80000 Afghans returned from the neighboring country in few days.</p>

<p>Yesterday, Pakistan announced it would keep open the two major border crossings for three days (Friday, Sunday and Wednesday) for commercial goods and transit trade.</p>

<p>Nangarhar’s governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said the Torkham border crossings was reopened on Saturday morning.</p>

<p>He did not say how many trucks crossed into Afghanistan from Pakistan today, but said 10000 containers would arrive within the three days.</p>

<p>Officials in southern Kandahar province also said that the Spin Boldak-Chaman crossing was reopened today in the morning at 7am until 5pm.</p>

<p>They said the border crossing would remain open for three days a week for transfer of commercial goods and transit trade.</p>
