KABUL (Pajhwok): US special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad and Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar have exchanged views on the latest developments in the Afghan peace process.

Jaishankar tweeted after a phone call on Friday: “@US4AfghanPeace called to update on recent Afghan developments. Shared the Indian perspective.”

India’s historical friendship with the close neighbour would always guide its policy on Afghanistan, Jaishankar wrote.

Under the US-Taliban peace pacts, hundreds of prisoners have been exchanged but a proposed intra-Afghan dialogue is yet to commence.

While opposed to any interaction with the Taliban, New Delhi has been supportive of an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.
