<p>PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): At least seven security guards of Mes Aynak copper mine have been killed and five others wounded in a <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> attack in central Logar province, an official said Sunday.</p>
<p>Police chief Brig. Gen. Raham Khuda Mulkhis told Pajhwok Afghan News that the militants stormed a Mes Aynak security check-post in Mohammad Agha district late on Saturday night.</p>
<p>He said seven security guards of the mine were killed and another five wounded in the nighttime attack.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Didar Lawang, the governor’s spokesman, also confirmed the incident to Pajhwok, saying the Taliban militants wanted to prevent development of Mes Aynak mine by carrying out such attacks.</p>
<p>It’s worth mentioning that at least 28 security forces were killed and dozens others wounded in three insurgent attacks in the ongoing month.</p>
