KABUL to serve the national interest, assistant secretary of the house said on Thursday.
The CLJ is scheduled to begin tomorrow — Friday – to discuss the release of 400 controversial Taliban prisoners.
Earlier, Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmai said convening a consultative Loya Jirga in presence of the parliament was against the law.
But an emergency session of the house attended by over 138 members, of heads of Wolesi Jirga committees, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Zia-ul-Haq Amarkhel, Acting Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi, Head of Government Negotiating Team Masoum Stanikzai and Acting National Directorate of Security (NDS) Head Ahmad Zia Seraj.
Hujatullah Kheradmand, assistant secretary of the house, after the meeting said that government should have consulted Wolesi Jirga about convening CLJ before the announcement of its opening date and then the final decision should have been taken.
He added in current deteriorated economic situation there was no need for such an event to be organised.
He said government officials apologized for not informing the Wolesi Jirga in advance and said that there was time constraint and the decision should have been taken for the sake of an early launch of intra Afghan talks.
Kheradmand said that besides the fact the agenda of the CLJ was not shared with the Wolesi Jirga but its members will still participate in the grand meeting to serve the national interest of the country.
