KABUL (HIA) chief.
The two sides have even arrived at an agreement on the venue for peace negotiations among Afghan factions, Gulbadin Hekmatyar said on Monday.
In an interview with Ariana TV channel, the former mujahidin leader claimed the government and political parties were yet to reach consensus on the peace process
Since the government had not reached an agreement with the major political groups; the parties preferred to launch direct talks with the Taliban.
He added: “An initial agreement has been reached on the location of the negotiations. The Taliban also know that the system is not honest and they are wasting time.”
The government was pursuing a hostile policy towards Taliban, the HIA leader alleged, stressing a change in Kabul’s approach to the militant movement.
Hekmatyar claimed the government in Kabul did not have the power to make decisions on the peace process. “The US is a decision-maker in the process.”
