Saleh orders Kabul traffic control plan in 2 days

KABUL (Pajhwok): First vice-president Amrullah Saleh on Monday directed the Kabul Traffic Department to prepare its intersection control plan to ease pressure on traffic officers in the next two days.

On October 16, Saleh took charge of Kabul security following a dramatic spike in crimes in the country’s capital.

In a Facebook post on Monday, he said that the Ministry of Finance should simplify collection of taxes and customs duty on new vehicles and accelerate the process.

In a meeting with officials concerned, the VP directed Kabul Traffic Department to prepare a comprehensive plan for traffic control in Kabul squares and reduce pressure on traffic control officers in the next 48 hours.

Afghan Quick Reaction Forces continued to work for elimination of terrorism and organized crimes, he said.

Saleh said documents of major townships built on usurped lands by their owners would also be reviewed soon.

Management in fruit and vegetable markets was also a priority and those defying police would be arrested and their business licenses cancelled, he said.

This comes after a number of people and parliament members criticized giving Kabul security charge to Amrullah Saleh.
