KABUL reconciliation has condemned the terrorist attack on the Kabul University, calling for a ceasefire and political settlement.
At least 22 people were killed and as many injured in a bomb and gun attack on the university by Islamic State fighters on Monday.
In a series of tweets, Zalmay Khalilzad said: “The attack on Kabul University claimed by ISIS was horrendous. I condemn it and offer my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.”
He said the terrorists were not just against education but were pro-ignorance and wanted to breed chaos and instability, terror and poverty.
The terrorist also opposed and feared peace, seeking a permanent state of war, the American diplomat wrote.
This barbaric attack was not an opportunity for the government and the Taliban to score points against each other, he said, adding there was a common enemy there.
“Deny ISIS or any other terrorist the space to carry out these inhumane acts. Unite for peace, find a path to a ceasefire, and accelerate a political settlement. These steps would be the right response to this unspeakable barbarism.”
