US lauds Pakistan’s stance on Afghan truce

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has commended Pakistan’s commitment to working for a reduction of violence and a ceasefire in Afghanistan.

US Special Representative Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad tweeted: “2/4 Pakistan Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI’s visit to Kabul represents a concrete step forward as does the Joint Vision that Afghanistan and Pakistan announced.”

The diplomat added: “We welcome and are encouraged by the positive development in Pakistan-Afghanistan relations.”

If implemented, the development would provide an opportunity to move forward on peace and development in the region, the envoy hoped.

The US congratulate both countries on the emphasis the Joint Vision places on: Preventing the use of one’s territory against the other; inclusive governance; and stronger ties.
