KABUL (Pajhwok): Vice President Amrullah Saleh has blamed some lawmakers for involvement in mega corruption cases, saying they have not been investigated yet.
Addressing a side-event on the margins of the Geneva Conference on Monday, he claimed certain parliamentarians were involved in massive corruption.
“To this date, unfortunately, Afghanistan hasn’t been able to bring any member of parliament to justice,” the VP regretted.
Ministers, generals and politicians had been charged, he noted, reiterating tainted lawmakers had not been brought to justice over corruption.
Seeing no political consensus on combating corruption in government offices, he hit out the international community’s insistence on political accommodation.
“Some of the most corrupt are imposed on us in the name of political accommodation. Known drug dealers were released in the name of peacemaking,” the VP remarked.
