KABUL (Pajhwok): A number of former and current governors have been referred to the Attorney General Office (AGO) over their alleged involvement in corruption.
A government official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News the officials introduced to the AGO belonged to Parwan, Bamyan and Logar provinces.
He said the allegations against these individuals included embezzlement in Covid-19 fund, administrative corruption and misuse of authority.
The accused included governor of Parwan Fazaluddin Ayar, Logar governor Mohammad Ajmal Shahpoor, former governor Mohammad Anwar Ishaqzai, former governor for Bamyan and current acting minister of Culture and Information Tahir Zaheer.
Maj. Gen. Mohammad Nabi Ahmadzai, who has been appointed as the governor of Zabul is also among those referred to the AGO on corruption charges.
