KABUL (Pajhwok): Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven says his country supports the Afghan peace process which would preserve the achievements of the past two decades and result in an independent, democratic and united Afghanistan.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had a telephonic conversation with Stefan Löfven, the Swedish prime minister, on Monday.
The statement said President Ghani thanked Sweden for its continuous assistance to Afghanistan in education and health sectors and also acknowledged the country’s support in the framework of the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.
President Ghani said Sweden was an old friend of Afghanistan and informed the Swedish prime minister of the shared perspective of Afghanistan and the International community about a stable, democratic and united Afghanistan in the end of the intra-Afghan peace process.
Stefan Löfven assured of his country’s continuous cooperation in development projects in Afghanistan including military and economic support.
He added ceasefire and ending the war and bloodshed in Afghanistan was a priority for Sweden and his country was supporting a peace that would preserve the achievements of the past two decades and result in an independent, democratic and united Afghanistan.
