KABUL (Pajhwok): A senior leader of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) says Afghan women want an immediate ceasefire and a full stop to the conflict.
The reconciliation panel is hammering out a plan for a comprehensive ceasefire and lasting peace to safeguard women’s rights, said Zuhra Ahmadzai, head of HCNR’s women commission
She was speaking at a conference on the creation of the reconciliation council’s Women’s Affairs Commission in Kabul on Tuesday.
“Everyone, especially women, are calling for a ceasefire in the country, because people are tired of making sacrifices,” she added.
Ms. Ahmadzai commented: “Afghan women can no longer afford to lose their loved ones to the war.”
Dr. Abdullah, the peace council’s chairman, told the gathering the commission was necessary to give Afghan women a voice in the peace process.
