KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 49 people killed after a bus veered off the road and plunged in a canal in Madhya Pradesh state of India on Tuesday, local media reported.
Indian news agencies said that the incident took place in Sidhi district of the state on Tuesday morning.
Local officials said the bus was veered off a bridge and fell into the canal that left 49 passengers with 20 of them women and two children dead.
The vehicle fully drowned into water and local authorities have stopped the water flow in the canal to find missed bodies.
According to Indian police figures, around 110,000 people die in car accidents every year in the country.
Bad road condition, usage of old transport vehicles and traffic violations are said to be the reason of high accidents in India.
